Mature cystic teratoma in uterine tube in a pregnant woman at term, a case report

Abstract

Germ cell tumor is distinguished by its histologic and structural complexity and can occur in both embryonic and postnatal stages. The most common histologic types include embryonal carcinoma, immature teratoma, mature teratoma, choriocarcinoma, endodermal sinus tumor, and dysgerminoma. Each of these types has specific histologic features and growth patterns, which influences the diagnosis and therapeutic approach for each patient. Treatments vary according to histologic type and extent of disease, i.e., several prognostic factors can influence treatment and clinical outcome for patients, which depend on the stage of the tumor at diagnosis, extent of disease, response to initial treatment, presence of metastases, specific tumor histology, and patient age. Identification and consideration of these prognostic factors are critical in determining the most appropriate therapeutic approach for each patient. In general, treatment may include surgery to remove the tumor, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination of these approaches
