Paraguay and its look beyond the West: Southeast Asia

Abstract

Over the past few decades, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations has established itself as one of the regional integration processes of further progress, just stop to look at some macroeconomic data that demonstrate the solidity that characterizes the fifth largest economy in the world. The enormous complexities that baffle the international order condition developing countries to implement meaningful pragmatism that ensures greater global interdependence. In addition, in view of the geographical and geopolitical factors that limit the Paraguayan Republic to greater economic growth and development, indefectibly consider the guidelines of its foreign policy, and therefore rethink its economic integration in Southeast Asia, mainly targeting the diversification of export markets and internationalization of local companies. Economic, trade, diplomatic and cultural relations with the Asian conglomerate stand out for their irrelevance. Within this conjecture, this work aims to address endogenous and exogenous elements about a greater rapprochement between Paraguay and the members of ASEAN, for which the evolution of Asian regional integration is deepened, the current relations between the partners of said bloc and Paraguay, whose structural patterns are similar, in comparison to other Asian powers, and finally to point out the bet towards a strategic alliance that strengthen the international relations of the Guaraní country
