Abstract

Oxygen therapy is a fundamental tool for the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory failure. This observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out with a quantitative approach to determine the level of knowledge and procedural skills of the nursing professional in the administration of oxygen therapy. Hospital Materno Infantil. San Lorenzo, the sample was of 40 nursing professionals and a non-probabilistic sampling, for data collection the survey was used as a method, the technique was an interview and as a data collection instrument a form with closed questions and multiple choice elaborated based on the variables and objectives proposed will be used. This form could be completed by the nursing personnel present in the field of study. The data obtained were stored in an electronic spreadsheet in the Microsoft Office Excel 2010 program, subsequently processed and analyzed with descriptive statistics and presented in graphs and tables. It was concluded: 40% of the subjects correspond to the cohort of 20 - 30 years old, which represent the majority, with a greater number of women 87%, and more than half of them with a degree in nursing (87%) without specializations in the area in which they work (72%). According to the knowledge of the nursing professional about the administration of oxygen therapy, 85% know and 15% do not know.
