Desgaste profesional y actividad física en personal de salud de un Hospital Regional de Paraguay

Introducción: El síndrome de desgaste profesional (burnout) y la inactividad física constituyen problemas de salud pública de creciente relevancia en el personal sanitario, con implicaciones directas sobre la calidad asistencial y la sostenibilidad de los sistemas de salud. Objetivo: Identificar el nivel de desgaste profesional y el nivel de actividad física en el personal de salud del Hospital Regional de Coronel Oviedo durante el año 2023, y explorar su asociación. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal realizado en 250 profesionales de la salud, seleccionados mediante muestreo probabilístico estratificado proporcional. Se aplicó el Inventario de Burnout de Maslach (MBI-HSS) y el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ, versión corta). La asociación entre variables se evaluó mediante la prueba exacta de Fisher. Resultados: El 69,6% (n=174) de los participantes fueron mujeres, con una edad media de 35,0 años (DE=7,0). El 59,6% (n=149) presentó nivel bajo de actividad física. El desgaste profesional fue medio en el 51,2% (n=128) y alto en el 22,0% (n=55). El agotamiento emocional constituyó la dimensión más comprometida. No se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa entre el nivel de actividad física y el grado de desgaste profesional (p=0,804). Conclusiones: Se documenta una alta prevalencia de desgaste profesional y una marcada insuficiencia de actividad física en el personal sanitario estudiado. La ausencia de asociación estadística sugiere que el burnout responde a una etiología multifactorial, en la que los factores organizacionales desempeñan un papel preponderante.
