Introduction: The study focused on describing the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients treated at the San Estanislao District Hospital between February 2020 and February 2021, in the context of an overwhelmed healthcare system due to the pandemic. Objective: To determine the clinical characteristics of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 at the San Estanislao District Hospital, evaluating sociodemographic, clinical, and risk factors. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, and retrospective study was conducted with 512 patients diagnosed using PCR and antigen tests. Demographic, clinical, and comorbidity variables were analyzed. Results: 52% of the patients were women and 48% were men, predominantly in the age groups of 21-40 years. The most frequent symptoms were fever and sore throat (26%) and cough with rhinorrhea (23%), while 18% were asymptomatic. Only 18% had comorbidities, with hypertension (7%) and diabetes (4%) being the most common. Hospitalization was required for 97% of the patients, and the mortality rate was low (3%). Conclusions: The results highlight the low prevalence of severe comorbidities and the need to adapt management protocols to the specific characteristics of the treated population. The observed low mortality emphasizes the importance of early and effective management in resource-limited settings, providing valuable information for future prevention and treatment strategies.
